Speak up! You never know who’s listening.
Have you ever been excited to try a brand new product that looks so good, but then you look at the ingredients and realize you can’t eat it? Kind of upsetting, isn’t it? You may be sad about it, so you message the company, or what a lot of us do in this day and age, angry tweet the company. The best part of contacting them is getting your voice heard.
Lucky Charms is my favorite kind of cereal. Recently, General Mills came out with this new Lucky Charms Frosted Flakes. I also love Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes, so I was pretty excited. Took a look at the ingredients, and guess what, canola oil. Yup that’s right, Lucky Charms and Frosted Flakes, which are both oil free, now had canola oil in this new mix. So, yeah, I was a little upset and angry tweeted General Mills about it.
Recently, I saw the Lucky Charms Frosted Flakes in stores and the box looked different, so I decided to take a look at the ingredients and yippee! No oil! Now, I don’t know if they changed the ingredients because I said something, or if it just happened to be a coincidence, but it felt good to have my voice be heard and have something change because I decided to speak up and say something about it.
With that being said, you should always check the labels because you never know if something may change, whether it’s from something you have been eating, changed into something you can’t eat, or something you couldn’t eat before, now changed so you can enjoy it. In fact, I talk more about this in one of my other blogs, “Ingredient Updates and Changes”. Always double check every time you buy the product to make sure it is safe for you to eat, and don’t be afraid to speak up when you’re upset about a company you love that may have changed their ingredients allowing you or your child not to eat and enjoy your or their favorite foods. You never know what could happen.
